Coatings on Tubes (inner and outer surfaces)
Smartek developed a proprietary process for coating the inner surface of a stainless steel coil with nickel and
palladium to prevent corrosion and fouling. The multilayer coating reduced corrosion buildup (upto 90%) in
stainless steel pipes in nuclear reactors. These inner surface coatings have applications in
semiconductor and gas handling industries. The company also has a proprietary copper plating
process for steel surfaces.

Heat exchanger used for coating application. Inlet and outlet passages for steam and coolant are shown in
the figure. The internal surface of the stainless steel coil is coated with a multilayer to prevent the
buildup of radioactive deposits.
Instrumentation Feedthro
The company has designed a special low temperature feedthro for vacuum systems, electron
microscopes, and process equipment . (Prototype testing in process)
Lead Monitor-Water Analyzer
The instrument measures the concentration of lead (Pb) in water with detection limits as low as a few parts
per trillion (ppt). It can also detect and measure the concentrations of other elements such as Cr, Ni, As,
Zn, and Cd. (US patent approved)
Non-Contact Temperature Probe
The instrument measures and maps the temperature of a substrate in the range 0 - 1200oC
without physical contact, with an accuracy of ± 1o. Suitable for semiconductor process
equipment, CVD process, and vacuum coating process.
